In light of the rapid transformations the world is witnessing in the fields of sustainable development and reconstruction, there is an urgent need to adopt advanced methodologies in engineering project management—ones capable of achieving efficiency, ensuring quality, and enhancing resource sustainability. From this perspective, the First International Conference on Engineering Project Management (1st ICEPM 2026) is convened as a leading scientific and professional platform that brings together academic expertise and practical applications.

The organization of this conference reflects a deep awareness of the pivotal role that engineering project management plays in supporting development and reconstruction efforts, particularly in vital sectors such as oil and gas, construction, and services. These sectors constitute the fundamental pillars for economic advancement and the achievement of social stability in our beloved country, Libya.

The conference aims to create an interactive space for the exchange of knowledge and expertise among researchers, experts, and decision-makers, while showcasing the latest practices and technologies in engineering project management. This, in turn, contributes to enhancing institutional performance and strengthening the capacity to address contemporary challenges through systematic planning carried out with efficiency and effectiveness—far from randomness and improvisation. Moreover, the conference plays an important role in promoting integration between strategic planning and the actual execution of projects, supporting the transition toward a knowledge- and innovation-based economy in project management, fostering effective partnerships between academic institutions and productive sectors, and embedding sustainability principles in the design and implementation of engineering projects

The significance of this conference lies in its representation of a qualitative step toward localizing global best practices in engineering project management. This contributes to supporting sustainable development and reconstruction efforts, improving the efficiency of resource utilization, and enhancing the quality of outputs across various sectors..

In conclusion, this conference is not merely a scientific event; rather, it is a strategic platform that contributes to shaping the future of engineering project management and supports the development of national capacities capable of achieving comprehensive and sustainable development.
